If you're local, we'd love to see you come out! We will be at the Warrior's Song Cafe (the old Salvation Army Store, now their cafe @ 374 McLean Street) both days from 9am-2pm. We have lots of great treats fresh baked by some terrific ladies in the community.
Except for some specially priced items, garage sale items are priced by donation, meaning you take what you need and leave a donation for Thor.
By giving your donation you're helping my little boy get his potentially life saving service dog - trained to track and retrieve Thor if he were to wander or hide (like many Autistic children, Thor can wander or run away under stress...hiding from any noises), alert me if he does wander, interrupt self-harming behavior, comfort him when he is upset or having a meltdown, and ease transitions by providing a constant calming presence. It will give me another set of eyes to keep Thor safe.
Thor is a loving child who wants nothing more than to be part of the world as best as he can. He becomes easily tired and overwhelmed if presented with too much unknown all at once. He is a creature of habit, with a strict adherence to the plan as it is laid in his mind. A buffer, in the form of someone familiar, helps to ease his fears. And this is where the service dog would begin to make the greatest impact: allowing him the security to transition between the familiar and that which is new, giving him the additional support to keep moving forward.
If you're in Quesnel, please stop in at the Warrior's Song Cafe (374 McLean Street) this Saturday & Sunday to show your support for Thor...grab a treat and some great deals!!
